In the air in “Fatal Beauty” (Max), Camila Pitanga spoke in an interview with “Roda Viva” (TV Cultura) this Monday (3) about the challenge of playing villain Lola.
The actress says she was inspired by a character from the documentary “A Place in the Sun” (2009), by filmmaker Gabriel Mascaro.
“It’s a documentary about rich people who live in coverage in Recife, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. There is a scene where a woman says that she admires the rifle shots she sees from top of her coverage. What is absurd for me for me , she spoke naturally. I saw and thought about it as a key to understanding Lola, “says Camila.
“It was good to have seen this movie to think about this fister that we see not only in soap operas. We see people committing embarrassment, whether from conservatism, racism, all the time. I confess that I had a hard time understanding Lola, acceptance -la. Thinking about what I could lend mine to her, “the actress continued.
“Over time, I understood that it is a woman who lived violence and who has this aesthetics of attack, irony, the displeasure. And this is irresistible in a soap opera,” he added.
Representation
Still in the interview, Camila talked about the representativeness of black actresses in prominent roles. “Today we have three great actresses starring soap operas. I am the fourth,” he said. “It’s no longer an exception: it’s a reality.”
On the subject, she quoted Angela Davis: “It was always a fight, it has never been easy. It was never quiet. It was never smooth. But I think we are now in another chapter of this confrontation.”
