Fernanda Lima, 47, was surprised by the request for arrest of the Public Prosecutor of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) against singer Eduardo Costa, 46, due to a lawsuit filed by the presenter herself. In 2018, the countryman made a post calling Fernanda “imbecile” and also accused the program she commanded at the time, “Love & Sex”, at Globo, of being “leftist, intended for bandits and stoners”.
The decision on the arrest of Eduardo Costa was announced on Wednesday (5). The action filed by Fernanda Lima and accepted by the court considered that the singer committed abuse of right to attack and defam it. At the time, he was sentenced to eight months of detention for the offenses and received restrictive penalties, which forced him to pay an indemnity of $ 70,000. Subsequently, the sentence was converted to the provision of community services, but the backcountry would not have served the penalty.
Fernanda Lima’s defense sent a note to F5 stating that the presenter has not followed the case since “the conviction.” “It is important to emphasize that Fernanda has not requested any measure in this regard, as there is no more participation in the case in this phase of the process.”
The MPRJ requested the Rio Court of Justice to replace the restrictive penalty of rights imposed on the coast with deprivation of liberty. If the state court welcomes the request, the backcountry can be arrested at any time. “The IV Special Criminal Court of the Capital informs that the MPRJ manifested itself for the conversion of the restrictive penalty of rights in deprivation of liberty,” says the statement sent to F5. The agency also explained the reason for the sentence: “The alleged author of the fact did not comply with the previously imposed measures.”
Eduardo Costa used social networks to comment on the request of the prosecutor. In the stories of his Instagram profile at dawn on Thursday (6), he said it was a “fake news”. “Thank God, I was innovated in a process a few days ago, and people themselves are spreading this news to harm me, to take my focus and throw me into another situation.”
The singer denied being convicted in the action filed by Fernanda. However, he admitted that the process “actually exists”, but stressed that it has not yet been completed. “And it will be long because it was my speech for many years. Nowadays, we have to take certain precautions with what it says,” said the countryman.
