Businessman Ricardo Rocha, who claims to be the son of Gugu Liberato (1959-2019), contested the result of a DNA exam, which gave negative in December 2024, and requested the reopening of the case. The defense of the alleged heir referred new documents that point out that the presenter would not be a biological son of Maria do Céu.
The lawyers hired by Ricardo claim that Gugu would actually be heir to Germana Morais or Antonio Augusto Morais, uncles of the presenter. With this, the examination performed with Maria do Céu to confirm the paternity of the communicator would not be valid.
Ricardo now wants Gugu to be exhumed to perform a new exam using the presenter’s own genetic material. So far, the court has asked the family to comment on the case before making a definitive decision.
The businessman’s lawyers also attached a document signed by a geneticist, according to columnist Gabriel Perline. The professional analyzed Ricardo’s DNA test and, despite having given negative, pointed out a genetic similarity between him and Gugu’s relatives. Also according to the analysis, the entrepreneur’s DNA would also be originally from Bragança, a place of origin of the Liberato family.
In 2023, four years after the presenter’s death, the merchant filed a lawsuit claiming that he was Gugu’s son and demanding a DNA test. He said that his parents had known themselves in 1973, when they attended the same bakery in Sao Paulo.
