Woman gives up on rape against Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

by

A woman who accused hip-hop stars Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z of sexually assaulted her when she was 13 years old gave up her civil proceedings on Friday (14), according to court records. Jay-Z-Shawn Carter real name-was accused in December of raping the girl, along with Combs, at a party after the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000.

The document filed in a New York Court states that the accuser “through this gives warning that the action mentioned above is voluntarily rejected, with loss” – which means that the process cannot be reopened.

Jay-Z legal representatives expressed satisfaction with the withdrawal of the process, noting that the accusations were unfounded. According to lawyer Alex Spiro, Jay-Z never gave in to the pressures and managed to clean his name without financial agreements.

Jay-Z celebrated the closing of the case, which he classified as “frivolous, fictitious and scary.” “This civil process had no merit and would never take anywhere. The fictitious tale they created was laughable if it weren’t for the gravity of the allegations,” he said in a statement. “I would not want this experience to anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I suffer will never be forgotten,” concluded the singer.

The complaint claimed that Combs and Carter – who is married to Beyoncé – took turns to assault the author, while another celebrity (of unveiled identity) was with sexual abuse.

According to the US press, the case was withdrawn after several inconsistencies in the accuser’s allegations were revealed. In an interview, the woman admitted lapses in her memory of events, but maintained the allegation of rape. Nevertheless, the withdrawal of the process suggests that the evidence presented were not enough to support the accusations.

Combs was accused separately from sexual trafficking and extortion. Federal prosecutors claim that he sexually abused women and coerced them at drug -powered sex parties using threats and violence. The rapper, who is arrested in September 20024, denies all charges, and his criminal trial is currently scheduled to start on May 5.
