Fernanda Montenegro honors Fernando Torres: ‘Love of a lifetime’

The actress Fernanda Montenegro, 92, paid tribute on her social networks to the actor Fernando Torres, to whom she was married for over 50 years, and who would make 94 years old this Sunday (14). “Fernando, we are a family, dear love of my life. Dear love of a lifetime. I miss you forever,” she wrote on Instagram.

She published two photos alongside her husband and a note he wrote to her in 1991: “Nanda, from your eternal boyfriend,” the note reads.

Torres died in 2008 at the age of 80. The two are parents of actress Fernanda Torres, columnist for Folha, and filmmaker Cláudio Torres.

Fernanda Montenegro was elected to occupy chair number 17, at the ABL, the Academia Brasileira de Letras, which belonged to Affonso Arinos de Mello Franco, who died early last year.

Among the 35 immortals, 32 voted in his favor. Close to other immortals, Affonso Arinos among them, Montenegro became eligible in the year before last, after the publication of “Prologue, Act and Epilogue”, his autobiography.

The academy, which had Machado de Assis as its first president, determines that you must be a native Brazilian and have published at least one work, of any literary genre and “recognized merit”, in order to become immortal.
