In the midst of the crowd at Salvador Carnival, a scream took over the streets: “No amnesty!” and “Justice is blind!” On the trio of Baianasystem’s pirate ship, Anitta, Alice Carvalho and other artists pulled the choir, which was followed by thousands of revelers in the Osmar circuit. The scene turned the party into a political protest packed by the sound of the block.
Among the revelers, the name of Jair Bolsonaro was also mentioned in screams and curses. The choir referred to expectation for its possible conviction for attempted coup d’état, a theme that has been repercussions on the political and judicial scenario in recent months.
Videos of the demonstration have spread quickly on social networks and have already reached over 100,000 views.
“Carnival is no place of politics, it is not even possible to have fun,” wrote the profile @mazcarvalho. “The world is very polarized.”
Another account, @paulovagas, countered. “Anywhere manifests politics yes, especially the carnival blocks.”
Anitta, who has been politically positioned in recent years, has actively participated in the moment, chanting the screams while singing and dancing on the trio. Alice Carvalho also reinforced the protest, encouraging the crowd to continue the choir and demonstrating support to the public that accompanied the block.
The pirate ship, known for its contesting footprint, became the scene for another political moment of the carnival of 2025.
