Even with 35 pounds less, criticism continues the same way, says Gaby Amarantos

No matter what to do, the woman will always be judged. This is the conclusion of singer Gaby Amarantos, 46, who, after publishing images in which she exposes a great weight loss, continues to receive criticism by social networks. “I lost 35 pounds and yet the criticism continues the same way,” he says.

But not everything is bad. The artist, who has just released the music video “Woman of the Amazon”, says she has also received sung, especially after publishing more sensual photos. “In this clip, I already have another body. Reading the comments I see some say, ‘Wow, as Gaby rejuvenated, now there was a little girl.'”

Weight loss was not just aesthetic, but for some unpleasant findings in medical examinations that pointed to signs of health problems. Since then, she has adhered to a strict diet and exercise.

The end of the marriage of almost two years with English Gareth Jones in the end of 2024 also helped in the search for the elevation of self -esteem. “The breakup gave me more time to take care of me. Relationship demands attention and when you have time just for you, it helps a lot.”

For a while now, you started to pose more sensual on the networks. For what reasons?

I always posted photos of various ways on my networks. We are living an era where the body issue is much spoken, Carnival stirs this discussion. One thing I have noticed: I lost 35 pounds, but with 35 pounds more or less, criticism remains the same way. Today I help so many people in this process of acceptance and understand that the aesthetic pressure plagues us all. So it’s something I use like a fuel.

Don’t the internet haters not bother you?

I am an artist and already read with that, the difference is that now this hatred has a name. I’ve been in this game for a while to have tools. I do therapy, which has been a salvation in my life, but much before there was my mother teaching me a mantra that I still tell my children to this day: “Do what you have to do and don’t care what people will think.” At school, I stood out and dealt with the exhibition, so today I could put a picture of me in a bikini, an outfit, a costume and especially make dreams, such as the last ball of Vogue, when I went with a costume that was a birthday cake, not everyone has the courage to play this fashionism.

Did you criticize you at that moment?

If it was Lady Gaga everyone would find it wonderful, but as a Brazilian artist, people criticize. It is this mutt syndrome that exists. On the other hand, I get a lot of affection, a lot of support, support and good engagement. The hater bothers yes, but I prefer who is really there, supporting me.

Did this search for weight loss had to do with the breakup of your marriage?

I have self -esteem up there, and yes, the breakup gave me more time to take care of me. The break came from me, the desire to follow my life so I can have more time to take care of me. My ex is my friend, we have a very good relationship, I hope a lot for him and I’m sure he is very happy to see this new phase of mine. But because I am single and have all the time available to take care of me, it gave me more availability to pay attention to me.

During the relationship you couldn’t take care of yourself?

A relationship demands attention and when you have a time just for you, it helps a lot and I’m enjoying my time. This transformation, making it very clear, is not only of the body, but also of inner transformation, I am taking care of my mind, doing therapy and eating well, you know? I make spiritual retreat to investigate and to be a better human being. This is what reflects in the body.

Was health up to date?

A year and a half ago, I received a diagnosis that scared me a lot. I have a diabetes history in my family and that was a “start”. I’ve lost an aunt aunt for this disease a few months ago. I have a brother who does hemodialysis three times a week, so this disease surrounds my family and I received a diagnosis that I was pre-diabetic, hypertensive and my unregulated exams. I am the provider of my family and I need to stop and take care of.

And what have you been doing now for health?

I have a team of doctors and professionals who take care of me, such as a personal, my nutritionist, my aesthetic doctor who makes several treatments with enzymes and gives me supplements and nutrients so I can train. My gynecologist who balances my hormone replacement so I can be strong. There is also my dermatologist who helps me after I lost a lot, because thank God, my skin is Afro-Indigenous, my blackness helps me have a rigid skin. I have a person who prepares my healthiest foods. And I do pilates, physiotherapy, walk, yoga, dance.

Now single, have you been enjoying to meet new people?

I am channeling the libido for music, for art, and I have received every amazing invitation for projects like actress and singer. I just launched a project with singer Tainara, the clip of “Woman of the Amazon”, where I already have another body. I keep reading the comments of the people who say, “Wow, as Gaby rejuvenated, is a woman, now there is a little girl.” I even joked that I will make a song with the name “Girl” because of this new “shape”. People were used to seeing that Gaby, but this other Gaby was also in crazy to go out and have the opportunity to shine. But I’m still the same woman.

The clip has already reached the 500 thousand views …

It is a composition to honor the beauty of this woman from the Amazon who dives into the river, which lets her hair dry in the wind, which pies a gourd in the bosom, a skirt that turns in the air to dance her stamp. I have a mission to increasingly bring this song, this culture not only for Brazil, but to the whole world. He was recorded on Mosqueiro Island and everyone has to listen because the woman in the Amazon, the Woman of the Forest, is within each of us!

What are your next projects?

Continue taking the culture of my region, being this artist who perceives its importance. That we understand that besides the countryman, pagoda, trap, has to have the technology brega, has to have the stamp, the music in the north. Internationalize and bring this culture to the universe.

You will participate in COP30. What does it project?

I am the ambassador of the Amazon Festival forever and I will sing at this event where we will receive Mariah Carey. I am very happy, because I always talked about my songs about the north and its culture and now we are reaping these fruits.

What does Women’s Day represent to you?

One day for us to reflect, celebrate the advances, but also be aware. As a woman from the Amazon, my questions are totally different from those of the Southeast woman. Understand this woman who is riverside, indigenous, who lives in the forest. Understand that she is powerful, intelligent, technological and futuristic. She has a lot to teach. So I see that my life mission is to continue to talk about the beauties and power of this woman from the Amazon to the whole world.
