The controversies of the protagonist of “Emilia Pérez” and the discontent of part of the audience with the film did not prevent Madonna from publicly supporting the production.
Days after the Oscar ceremony, the singer posted behind -the -scenes photos of the awards. In one of them, she tied to Jacques Audiard, director of the film, and held one of the two trophies that the film took.
“I could spend time with people I love and admire. The highlight of the night for me was sitting next to Jacques, director of ‘Emilia’, my favorite movie of the year. And watch Lil Wayne perform.”
The production competed in 13 Oscar categories, and won in two: best supporting actress, with Zoe Saldaña, and best original song, with “El Mal”.
After the post, Karla Sofa Gascoon thanked the singer for her support and posted a photo in which the two hug.
“I want to thank you for all the love you have shown to have for me, for the invitation to your party after the Oscar and your words of love and strength. I love you,” he wrote.
During the award campaign, publications with racist and xenophobic statements from the Spanish actress came to light. To drown out the controversy, Karla was excluded by the promotional team.
In the comments of Madonna’s post, Brazilians disagreed with the Queen of Pop. “Emilia Pérez? Bad choice,” wrote the profile of Emanuel Gomes. “Beautiful photos and look, but I like dubious about better movie” opined the netizen @cafecomrafa.
