Here we will admire the famous Statue “Hand” on the beach of the city, a work of the well -known Chilean sculptor Mario Irarrázabalone of the most recognizable sights in the country! We will see the historic 45-meter-high lighthouse, find ourselves in the southernmost point of the country, while visiting a very strange “wavy” bridge and the impressive Casapueblo, a museum house that architecturally reminiscent of Gaudi and … Santorini!
We will then drive west of the capital Montevideotoward her borders Argentineanto find ourselves in Colonial del Sacramento, just opposite Buenos Aires. It is one of Uruguay’s oldest and most historic cities, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Its cobblestone historical center is surrounded by walls, has a very impressive lighthouse and two ports, the old and the modern, while the central temple began to be built alongside the city in 1680 with its current form dating to 1808.
Our trip to Uruguay ends in the next episode where we will discover some… Greek elements!
