The presenter Luciano Huck, 50, apologized, on Sunday, Sunday (14), for a controversial comment he made last week about the weight of singer Marília Mendonça, who died at age 26, in a plane crash, on the last day 5. “I regretted it right away,” he said.
“I think the world has improved, we have overcome important issues. Before, we could make a kind of joke that we can’t anymore, I could comment that we can’t anymore and there are subjects that we shouldn’t talk about anymore,” said the presenter, extending the apology to the duo Maiara and Maraisa.
“Many people have suffered throughout their lives with this pressure of how they have to be, what is beautiful, what is ugly. So I think we no longer have to talk about aesthetics, everyone has to be happy the way they are. Sorry for making a comment about this, I won’t do it anymore,” he concluded.
Last week, Huck was talking about the death of Marília Mendonça, when he recalled the last time the singer performed on her show, alongside Maiara and Maraisa. “[Há] Three weeks I was with the three of them on stage. In fact, it was only half of the three on stage, because they were all three skinny,” he said.
Internet users did not like the comment. “Respect the bodies and legacies of women,” one wrote on Twitter. Others also criticized Huck for speaking more than once during the attraction about the accident he suffered in 2015, when the plane he was in with his family had to crash-land.
“I would like to record here how much I think Luciano Huck is extremely self-centered. When he talked about his accident every moment in a tribute to someone else, it was regrettable. Apart from the bad joke about Marília’s weight”, wrote one netizen.
Marília Mendonça was one of the five victims of an air accident that occurred on the 6th of June, in the mountains in Piedade de Caratinga, 309 kilometers from Belo Horizonte. The artist had a concert scheduled for the date in Caratinga, about ten kilometers from the crash site.
