Happy Traveler’s fascinating journey to SKAI to Uruguay ends on Sunday, March 30, with our travelers exploring spots with Greek interest in the country’s capital, Montevideo.

In Montevideo many parts of the city have a Greek element and Eftichis with Electra discover and learn firsthand what this small South American country has to do with Greece.

Our travelers see the century (Centenario), where it became the first World Cup in 1930, Athens Square with the Statue of Homer and the “Athenian” building in the city center. Outside the National Library, they meet the statue of Socrates and ask the passers -by if they know who is depicted. They go to the fountain with the locks and go up to the Observatory on the top floor of the City Hall to see the Montevideo from above. They feel proud to see the imposing graffiti of Laskarina Bouboulina near the port of the city, while visiting the Greek community of the city and the Maria Tsakos Foundation.

They close the episode with the Agricultural Market of Montevideo, the impressive building of the country’s parliament with the Caryatids at the top and take an evening stroll through one of the most popular spots in the city when the night falls.
