The State Literary Awards 2021- The winners

Dimitris Tziovas, Nikos Davvetas, Louiza Papaloizou, Thanasis Hatzopoulos, Nikos Christidis, Dionysis Kapsalis, Christina Koulouris, Stratos Dordanas, Vaios Kalogrias, Spyros Chavos, Panos Goumos, Panos Goumos Christopoulos are the authors who won the State Literature Awards this year.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports announces the State Literary Awards 2021 (for the 2020 editions), the State Literary Translation Awards 2021 (2020 editions) and the State Children’s Book Awards 2021 (2020 editions) in application of the legislation governing the institution of the State Awards (Law 3905 / 23-12-2010, Article 40).

Specifically, today the Grand Prize for Letters 2021, the State Prizes for Literature 2021 (Prizes for Novel, Short Story-Poetry, and Poetry), the State Prizes for Essay-Testimony 2021 (Prizes for Essay-Criticism-Writing and Criticism-L Rookie Writer Award 2021, the Special Thematic Award 2021 (for a book that significantly promotes dialogue on sensitive social issues), as well as the awarding of honorary distinctions to magazines.

A. The Grand Prize of Letters for the year 2021 is awarded to Dimitris Tziovas for his overall contribution to Letters.

Β. The State Novel Award 2021 is awarded by a majority of half to Nikos Davvetas for his work Men without Men, published by Patakis, and to Louisa Papaloizou for her work To vouni, published by Rodakio.

Γ. The State Prize for Short Story – Novel 2021 is awarded by a majority of half to Thanasis Hatzopoulos for his work Historian present, Polis publications, and to Christos Christidis for his work Naked, Enteftirio publications.

Δ. The State Poetry Prize 2021 is awarded by a majority to Dionysis Kapsalis for his work Notes on world music, Agra publications.

Ε. The State Essay – Criticism Award 2021 is awarded by a majority to Christina Koulouri for her work Fustaneles and Chlamydas. Historical memory and national identity 1821-1930, Alexandria publications.

F. The State Prize for Martyrdom – Biography – Chronicle – Travel Literature 2021 is awarded by a majority to Stratos N. Dordanas and Vaios Kalogrias for their work The Lives of Others, The Stasi and the Greek Political Refugees in East Germany (1949-1989) .

Ζ. The State Award for Newcomer Author 2021 is awarded by a majority of half to Spyros Goulas for his work Last year put them for good, Polis publications, and to Phoebus Economides for the work of the North, Hestia Bookstore publications.

THE. The Special State Award 2021 for a book that significantly promotes dialogue on sensitive social issues, is awarded by a majority of half to Panagiotis Chatzimousiadis for his work Expenses of Hospitalization, Enypnio publications, and to Dimitris Christopoulos for his work Gindoki, Tindoli.

Θ. The Commission unanimously decided to award the honorary distinction to the magazines and notes.

State Prizes for Literary Translation 2021

The competent Committee for the State Prizes for Literary Translation 2021 came up with the Awards for the categories Award for Translation of a Work of Foreign Literature into Greek, Award for Performance of the Ancient Greek Secretariat in Modern Greek and a Prize for Translation of a Greek into Greek.

A) The State Prize for the Translation of a Work of Foreign Literature into the Greek Language 2021, is unanimously awarded to Euripides Garantoudis, for the translation of the work of Sandro Penna, The Poems, Gutenberg Publications, Athens.

B) The State Prize for Performance of the Work of the Ancient Greek Secretariat in Modern Greek 2021 is unanimously awarded to Thanassis Valtinos, for the translation of the work of Euripides Trojans. Medea, published by Estia Bookstore, Athens.

C) The State Prize for the Translation of a Greek Language Work into a Foreign Language 2021 is unanimously awarded to Nicola Crocetti for the translation of the work of Nikos Kazantzakis, Odissea, Crocetti editore, Milan.
