“The argument that the scenes contained ‘corpses’ and ‘disaster’ is hypocritical,” the popular singer says in her sharp post.
On the side of Oscar -winning Greek director George Lanthimos is Katie Garbis, following the decision of Ms to ban shooting for his new film “Bugonia” on the Acropolis.
Her sharp post on social media, a popular singer, stresses that George Lanthimos “is not accidental” and that “we protect the monument from the wrong things”.
In detail her post
“George Lanthimos is not accidental! He is a director who has brought Greece back to the international cinematic foreground, in style that may not be easy, but deeply artistic. The Acropolis is a global symbol and what is stronger than it appears in a film that will see the whole planet through the eyes of a Greek creator who honors it in its own way?
The argument that the scenes contained “corpses” and “destruction” is hypocritical, especially if one thinks that the story of the space itself is full of violence, blood, wars and sacrifices. Censoring the artistic vision because “does not sit well visually”, flirts with cultural dignity.
On the other hand, I understand the need to protect and respect the monument. My humble view, however, is that we protect it from the wrong things.
