Elton John, 78, spoke about the limitations he has been facing with his severe loss of vision. In an interview with the British newspaper The Times, the singer was emotional when talking about his new condition.

“I can’t read. I can’t see my children playing Rugby and Football. These were things I used to enjoy a lot. It’s been stressful and anguishing,” he said.

“We get emotional, but need to try to get used to it. I’m very grateful to have the life I have. I still have my wonderful family and I can still see something,” added the musician. He is the father of Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 12, with her husband, David Furnish, 62.

Elton John had a serious vision loss after contracting an eye infection in July 2024. He totally lost sight of his right eye and partially that of the left eye.

“I can’t read anything or watch anything,” he said in an interview with a podcast at the time.

Even with the limitation, he continues to work. At the end of March, he took the London Palladium stage with American singer Brandi Carlile, with whom he has just released an album.

Sir Elton John, as his title of the Nobility of the Order of the British Empire says, is one of the few people in history to have Egot, that is, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards, the main ones in TV, music, cinema and theater.
