Taís Araujo says that son suffered racism in a luxury condominium

Performer of the character Raquel in the remake of “Vale Tudo” (Globo), actress Taís Araujo, 46, reported a case of racism suffered by her son, João Vicente, 14, in a luxury condominium.

According to the artist, the young man likes to dress with a soccer and slipper shirt. And because he was “messy”, as he described, and by bicycle, was approached by the security. He was with a friend who is also black.

“And I say, ‘The day you spend an embarrassment on the street for a trauma’ … Obviously he wants to test. When the security guard they stopped they said, ‘When it is on the street, it will be worse,” she said in an interview with O Globo newspaper.

“He says it’s bullshit, but you know it’s not. It’s hard because it forces you to get a child’s innocence. But if I don’t warn, it may be worse,” he amended.

According to Taís, every day are “a battle”, especially because it creates the heirs in a noble neighborhood of the south of Rio de Janeiro and in a school whose children is white.

Still, she says she has created a movement with other black people to put their children in this college.

“My son is reading Carolina Maria de Jesus in the eighth grade. My daughter [Maria Antônia, 10] I was studying the samba schools. They are learning about the culture of the country. This is already a very different event from my time. But we warn all the time: ‘You are not the same as your friend,’ ”he added.
