Representative Colonel Fernanda (PL) filed an application and requested explanations from the Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sonia Guajajara, about the visit of actress Angelina Jolie to the Piaraçu village, in the Jarine-Jarine Indigenous Land, near the Xingu Indigenous Park in Mato Grosso.
The parliamentarian confirmed the F5 which filed a request last Friday (4) to understand the reasons that led Funai (National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples) to allow her to enter indigenous territories and if there is another type of criterion for foreigners.
“The question we want to raise is whether there was flexibility for foreigners, in view of the difficulties imposed on the parliamentarians of the external commission that have investigated the humanitarian crisis of Yanomamis and other ethnicities,” he says.
It also wants information about who was part of the Jolie entourage, what kind of bond they have with the foundation and a copy of a possible contract established before the visit.
In addition, the deputy calls for a survey of the village visitation requests in the last five years, along with names, requests and motivations presented for the entry at the site.
Angelina Jolie talked to Raoni Metuktire, known as Cacique Raoni, visiting the village. Videos and photos that circulate on social networks show Hollywood actress alongside one of the world’s leading indigenous leaders as well as indigenous children and women.
“Our struggle for the protection of our territory and culture is daily and we are happy to know that more and more people come to us,” said the Raoni Institute by note.
