Jon Bon Jovi’s non -profit organization is criticized by the mayor of a city in New Jersey. Through JBJ Soul Foundation, the singer and wife provide meals for homeless people.
The Foundation has opened a temporary space in Toms River, where people who cannot afford become voluntary or have the meals paid by others.
But Daniel Rodrick, who manages the city, said that the municipality has become a refuge for the homeless, who would be coming from other cities or states allegedly transported by organizations.
“I definitely want this to end and I want the county to stop leaving people in tone river,” he told the American channel CBS. He also claimed that the flow of people would have increased the incidents around the Ocean County Library, where the restaurant is.
“If they will turn it into a homeless shelter, who all give up and give them a Barnes and Noble voucher to them [rede de livrarias]”.
In a note sent to CBS, Bon Jovi and Dorothea claimed to be committed to ending the lack of housing and hunger.
“We are not here to transfer people or force them to live in the shadows. Our foundation has built nearly 1,000 popular and supportive housing units.”
The mayor also claimed, in an interview with Fox News, that Toms River has a housing problem that is being aggravated by the homeless.
“We don’t want to be the epicenter of the lack of housing. We don’t want to be a garbage deposit for the problem of the lack of housing in the state of New Jersey. The state needs to mobilize and resolve.”
