The Lady Gaga show in Brazil is already beginning to impact tourist movement in the country – and not only at airports. The Rio de Janeiro bus station prepares for one of the most flowing periods of the year, driven by the presence of the American singer on May 3, at Copacabana Beach.
The presentation takes place shortly after the national holiday of Labor Day, and should attract thousands of fans from various regions of the country.
About 200,000 people are expected to circulate through the terminal throughout the week of the event, with more than 50,000 passengers scheduled only on Friday, May 2. According to the administration of the bus station, the intense movement will be pulled by tourists who come mainly from São Paulo, Minas Gerais, EspÃrito Santo and the Federal District.
With an eye on this scenario, Terminal Director-General Roberta Esteves Faria Muniz, ensures that the structure is ready to receive the public. “We are operating with reinforced infrastructure to meet both Lady Gaga fans and other holiday travelers,” he says.
In addition to the structure, sales and research data also confirm the phenomenon around the artist. According to a survey by Clickbus, a platform that specializes in online road ticket sales, the search for trips to Rio de Janeiro for the week of the Gaga show increased about 170% compared to the same period last year – when Madonna also gave her historic presentation on Copacabana beach.
The difference draws attention. Even losing the dispute on the airline tickets, Mother Monster already adds more than double search for bus travel in relation to the pop queen, according to the platform.
The dates with the highest volume of interest are April 30, May 1 and 2, concentrating most of the shipments towards the state capital. The reinforcement in land transportation confirms that the Gaga show will be one of the major events of the year in Brazil, moving not only the cultural sector, but also road tourism.
