Fatima Bernardes did routine exams in December 2020 when she received from her gynecologist the diagnosis of endometrium cancer. Today, almost five years later, he makes a point of emphasizing the importance of early discovery.
“It’s not painful to remember my cancer because I was fortunate to find out early. I consider myself part of a very privileged group, which you can treat quickly. I discovered on the 3rd and on the 6th was already operating,” the journalist told O Globo newspaper.
As soon as she was informed by the doctor, the journalist announced fans and friends through her social networks, what she was going through – and she says the support received was essential for her recovery.
“When I found the news, I already said that I was going to operate and that I had already solved it, everything was right. I didn’t have to do chemotherapy or radiotherapy, which is a smaller suffering in the face of what other people pass when they face this disease.”
Fatima states that everything for what came to make life look in another way. “The fact that I was fortunate to treat quickly made me even more attentive, giving me a new perspective on the value of the present and the certainty that at any time things can change.”
