I have noticed that there are two types of people, about how they make their decisions. There are those who decide immediately, without hesitation and proceed to their execution.
There are, however, those who think about it, rethink it, discuss it, rethink it, and yet continue to have doubts about whether they made the right decision.
So this category of people suffers from procrastination of decisions or otherwise decision paralysis.
What exactly is procrastination decisions
Procrastination is the inability to make final decisions or choices, even for the simplest things. According to psychologists, this is due to Freud’s “Principle of Pleasure”, where in our attempt to avoid an unpleasant situation, which can cause us negative emotions, we are unable to make a decision, just for fear of disrupting it. of our happiness and our peace. Especially if we are perfectionists or have enough demands on ourselves, this is enough to disorient us and stress us out.
This situation is especially aggravated when it comes to more than one option. It is at this stage that the person is overwhelmed by intense stress, which can even lead to a panic attack. It is generally an uncomfortable and stressful situation, which can weaken the productive function of the individual.
How do you decide to decide
Everything is possible: First take a deep breath, calm down, clear your mind and focus on the subject. Once you do this, think that no matter how serious you are, you are capable of making the right decision. Try to keep your cool, concentrate and if you feel that you are “lost” do something else for a while. Remember that even if you make the wrong choice, everything is corrected.
One step at a time: If the problem is multidimensional, break it down into sections. Take it from the beginning and slowly decide on each issue separately. You do not need to manage a lot at a time. Make a plan with the pros and cons of each issue and set yourself a schedule, which will be based on the time you need to decide, but also on the objective time you will have to answer. Putting yourself in a program keeps an order in your mind.
Trust your instinct: Many times you do not need to have all the data in front of you to make the right decision. Trust yourself and you will see that you can trust yourself. This practically means that when you really do not know what to do, listen to this chorus inside you. It is also very important to have a positive attitude towards the problem you have to solve or the choice you have to make.
Have a break: There is no need to fall on your face and be pressured. Take some time, get organized, clean your workplace or your home. Many times when we deal with simple, everyday tasks the mind calms down. The daily routine of home is, for many, psychotherapy. You will see a little order will benefit you to put your thoughts in order.
Deal with your demons: Maybe it’s time to find the source of your problem. Maybe it’s due to some trauma or the tendency you may have to deceive yourself. Maybe it’s because you want to control everything. This is impossible. Accept it and do the best you can. You have to accept that not everything goes our way. There is also the unbalanced factor. And who knows! It may work out for you.
