Gloria Pires’s husband criticizes Globo’s tribute: ‘It was unfair to you’

The musician and composer Orlando Morais vented on his social networks on Tuesday (29) and criticized the tribute made by TV Globo for his wife, actress Gloria Pires, during the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the station.

In an Instagram post, Orlando lamented and made it clear that he spoke not only as a companion, but as an admirer of the artist: “Globo was unfair to you at the 60th birthday party. I participated in this beautiful partnership! I know you won’t like the post. I don’t talk here as your husband. I speak as Brazilian.”

In the special, Gloria was represented by her performance as Raquel, in Women of Areia (1993). Although the role is a classic of television drama, many fans have considered that the isolated choice has reduced the size of their contribution to television.

The program also praised iconic villains such as Carminha (Adriana Esteves) and Nazaré Tedesco (Renata Sorrah).

In the comments of Orlando’s publication, netizens echoed the criticism. “What matters is what it represents for Brazilians and not to Globo,” wrote the profile Larissa Araújo. “I agree with you, Gloria Pires, in my opinion, is the best Brazilian actress and deserved more,” commented Cida Pereira.

Others disagreed with the musician’s opinion. “I didn’t understand the post, I saw the group of the villains and she was there. Had many to be honored, what was missing?” Asked Kátia Silva. Another user, @cidapereira, agreed. “Globo did not pay tribute to any individual artist. He honored everyone.”

Gloria Pires starred in dozens of successful soap operas, such as “Vale Tudo” (1988), where she played the unforgettable Maria de Fátima, and “Earth and Passion” (2023), her recent farewell from the station after more than five decades of bond. At 60, she ended her fixed contract with Globo to dedicate herself to freer projects and explore new languages.
