American singer Smokey Robinson, 85, is being charged with sexual harassment and rape against four women.
The alleged victims worked as maids at the artist’s house between 2007 and 2023.
The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles on Tuesday (6). The singer’s wife, Frances Gladney Robinson, is also being prosecuted for knowing the alleged violence and doing nothing to prevent it.
The four former employees claim that they were attacked multiple times at the house of Smokey and Frances. The first case would have occurred in 2007.
According to TMZ, the accusations bring coherent data with each other. All the supposed victims report that the singer called them in his room whenever his wife left. Then he forced sex with them. Violence included forced oral sex and penetration, even with victims offering resistance and saying no.
The women reported that Smokey stretched a towel on the bed before they force themselves on them so as not to leave traces. At least two of the alleged victims claim that he has ejaculated inside them without protection.
Accusations include rape, sexual harassment, private jail and gender violence. They ask for a total of $ 50 million in compensation.
Smokey Robinson was Motown vice president between 1961 and 1988, where he helped boost, among other artists, Michael Jackson. In the 1950s, he was the lead singer of The Five Chimes, one of the pioneers of R&B. He received several Grammys, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, for the whole work. In 2006 he received the Kennedy Award for his contribution to American culture.
