Anitta reaches 1st place in most listened to the world with ‘Envolver’

The singer Anitta, 28, reached the first place in the ranking of most listened to songs in the world by Spotify, this Friday morning (25). The artist entered the Top 10 on Saturday (19), reaching the 9th position.

On Twitter the phrase “She won” came to be among the most talked about topics. Fans and netizens celebrated the singer’s achievement. “She’s from Honório, she’s from Rio de Janeiro, she’s from Brazil. She won!” wrote an internet user. “Congratulations Anitta for the #1 spot on Spotify Global, we all know you deserve it,” said another.

On Sunday (20) she reached the 7th position and officially entered the Top 5 on Tuesday (22). This Thursday (24), the artist reached the 2nd place in the ranking. The song “Envolver” surpassed “Heat Waves”, by the band Glass Animals, which now occupies the 3rd place, behind “Plan A”, by Paulo Londra.

In this way, Anitta is the most listened to woman in the ranking, ahead of names like Dua Lipa, Adele, Camila Cabello, Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and Rosalía. It is the first time that a Brazilian (or Brazilian) reaches this position in the chart.​

“Envolver” was released in November 2021, but started making history on March 18, when it appeared at position 17 on the Global Top 50. Until then, Anitta’s biggest success on the platform was the hit “Vai Malandra”, which reached 18th place.

The artist signs the composition of the track alongside Julio M. Gonzales Tavarez, Freddy Montalvoe and José Carlos Cruz. She also directed the music video for the song, which was produced by Harold Jimenez, a frequent collaborator with Maluma and J Balvin.

The song should be part of the artist’s new album, “Girl From Rio”, to be released this year. Anitta always said she wanted to expand funk worldwide and, therefore, chose to explore different Brazilian rhythms in this new work, but with all the lyrics in English and parts in Spanish.
