Actor Mark Ruffalo, 54, asked young Brazilians, on Thursday afternoon (24), to take away their voter registration “to defeat Bolsonaro”. On his official Twitter profile, the artist shared a message from Anitta, 28, and reinforced the importance of voting.
“In 2020, Americans only defeated Donald Trump because record voters used their democratic rights, especially young people. To defeat Bolsonaro, 16- and 17-year-old Brazilians must register to vote in the upcoming election. They have until May 4 to do so. this”, wrote the artist known for playing the character Hulk, in “Avengers”.
The actor’s request came after Anitta’s tweet, which encouraged young people to take the title. “Are you 16 or 17, or will you be 16 by October 2? Have you moved city and want to vote for the new president of Brazil?
So, know that it’s very easy to remove or transfer the title these days!”, wrote the singer, who reached the 1st place in the ranking of the most listened songs on Spotify Global this Friday (25).
After seeing the interaction with Ruffalo, the singer also celebrated on Twitter. “Wait a minute… is my idol really interacting with me on Twitter? Jesus… I’m going to freak out now,” she wrote in response to the actor’s tweet.
“But… back to the main issue. Yes! I need all my young fans to vote so we can get this bad president out of my country’s government before he kills our entire Amazon,” she added.
The informal and spontaneous campaign led by the artists took place after the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) registered the lowest number of 16 and 17 year olds with voter registration in history. If in 2018, the year of the last presidential elections, this number was 1.4 million people in February, this year only 830,000 individuals in the age group took the document in the same month.
