Marcelo Falcão’s show at Virada Cultural was canceled this Saturday (24). In a statement mentioning the São Paulo Municipal Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economics, the singer’s team stated that, for medical reasons, the presentation that would take place at 19h in Parelheiros had to be canceled.

“At dawn, Falcão suffered a knee rupture during a presentation and, on medical recommendation, will need rest and immediate care. We deeply thank the understanding of everyone, the affection of fans and the support of the production of the cultural turn,” says excerpt.

Hours earlier, the singer recorded stories from the hospital and said on his Instagram profile that he had a break in one of his knee ligaments.

“I’ve done radiography, I’ve done resonance, I’m waiting for the physiotherapist to come here to give me a position and, unfortunately, today’s show I won’t be able to do. I can’t even put my foot to the floor, nor with a crutch,” he said. “But I’m here to thank each of you who have giving me energy. Rio de Janeiro, I love you,” he said.

The former singer of the band Rappa was injured on stage on Friday night (23), during his performance at a concert hall in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.

After singing the first song, he told the audience that he had cheered his knee and was in a lot of pain, but would continue the presentation. “I never went through it, but I will take the show as far as my knee allows,” he said, pulling applause from the audience.

The reason not to interrupt the event, he said, was to be in his city and have parents of friends of his son in the audience. Falcão was born and grew up in the Engenho Novo neighborhood, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. He made the presentation sitting on a bench, interspersing times when he got up, balanced on one leg. In the end, the singer was removed from the stage in a wheelchair.
