One day, actress Cecilia Chancez, 21, opened Instagram and realized she had a new follower: singer Justin Bieber. But why does the Canadian star began to follow the young carioca from the Senador CamarĂ¡ community, in the west of Rio? Neither does she know.
“I saw that on a weekend they started talking about it and it was a surprise to me too, because I am a fan since I was a child and I was happy. I feel fulfilled to imagine that he knows my work. But at first I thought it was mistaken,” says the actress, who plays Dara in “Dona de me” (Globo).
Not only that, she says Bieber participates in her publications. “He watches my stories and interacts, so I was even happier.” The repercussion surrounding virtual friendship helped Cecilia leverage her followers. Currently, the actress has over 800,000 of them.
Ana Cecilia Chancez – and the surname is the same, not written wrong, she says laughing – never thought of being an actress. In fact, his biggest dream was to study astrophysics, a course for which the young woman, at the end of high school, received a scholarship in Dallas, United States.
But it was precisely at the same time that there was also a chance to take a test to be the protagonist of Globoplay’s “Vicky and The Musa” series.
“I was always studious and it made me want to be astrophysics. One day I will finish this college, but I do not regret the choice I made. Artistic opportunities like this are more difficult, especially where I came from,” he reinforces.
She started in the area at the age of seven, when she performed on plays at church and school and learned more about violin, guitar, jazz, keyboard, ballet and tap dancing.
Now in the debut in soap operas, in the skin of the young engaged Dara in “Dona de me”, Cecilia sees the golden chance she needed to perpetuate her career. “I am proud of this work. It is a surreal energy, and the result is clear: Ibope up there,” he celebrates.
Cecilia’s father is a singer and listening to his interpretations made the artistic vein in the young woman. In addition to her TV career, she also brings a trajectory in parallel as a singer. From 2024 to here, it has released two singles: “Surreal” and “Do it again”, which mix Afro Beat, R&B and Rap (check below). Interestingly, the soap opera Dara also wants to pursue a career in music.
“I like to be able to reach places that the crowd where I came from never imagined. What I can do to keep dream of the favela children, I will do,” he adds.
