Mc Poze’s arrest, Marlon Brandon Coelho Couto Silva, generated strong repercussions on social networks and mobilized artists, influencers and even parliamentarians.

The funkeiro was arrested at dawn on Thursday (29), in Rio de Janeiro, on charges of apology for crime and possible association with drug trafficking, which, for many, wide the persecution of peripheral culture.

Several public figures came out in defense of the singer, claiming that the operation was disproportionate and that the criminalization of funk and rap artists reflects a selective system, which acts more rigorously when the target is black, poor and from the favela.

Among those who manifested themselves is singer MC Daniel, who mocked the authorities’ priority: “It seems that he stole the INSS. If they had half their willingness to arrest who really does something wrong, Brazil would be a first world country.”

The rapper Oruam, who has also been the target of investigations, has made a blunt outburst: “The state is losing, and to give some answer, they hold black, the poor, the slum. Today was Poze, tomorrow can be any of us.”

Mc Cabelinho used Instagram’s stories to criticize what he called “historical criminalization of black and peripheral culture.” According to him, there are two weights and two measures when it comes to portraying the reality of the slums. “When a screenwriter writes about a trafficker in a soap opera, it is art. When an MC narrates the same reality in a song, it is apology for crime,” he said.

The artist also denounced the way Poze was taken to the police station, reporting that the artist was barefoot, shirtless and handcuffed. “They humiliated him in front of the family. This fight is not just yours, it’s ours.”

Federal deputy Erika Hilton also positioned herself against the operation. “This treatment that poze from the squeegee received today has nothing to do with the crimes he is accused. It’s just another form of an extremely corrupt and criminal system to blame someone,” he said.

Rapper Orochi, founder of the Mainstreet Records label, which currently represents Poze, recorded a video stating that there is no association of the company with the crime. “There is no money money laundering at the Mainstreet. Freedom Poze of the squeegee, and thanks to all the artists who positioned themselves. Who should be treated that way (as Poze was) are several pregnant bandits out there – but these never suffer anything.”

BBB18 winner Gleici Damasceno also entered the debate and questioned the selectivity of justice. “They will arrest those involved in the overpriced country mafia in the interior city halls? Of course not. Too whites, right?” She wrote at X (former Twitter).
