On 26 and 27 May 2025, under the brilliant Aegean sun, on the sacred island of Delos – Apollo and Artemis’ birthplace, one of the first cosmopolitan centers of the Mediterranean and today Outdoor Museum – The 5th World Meeting took place Alpha Mission – Delos. Titled “Human settlements: From Earth to Moon and further”the event invited distinguished scientists, thinkers, researchers, teachers and artists to review how we live on our planet and worlds beyond it.

Drawing inspiration from Delos, which at its peak hosted nearly 30,000 inhabitants in balance with the island’s few natural resources, the meeting has previously turned to contribute to a new vision for the future. On the island of Apollo, the God of Light, but also worshiped as a builder and leader – that is, he was associated with the founding of cities – the discussions turned around how we can build with wisdom, responsibility and harmony with the nature to which we belong.

H Alpha Mission – Delos is the initiative of World Human Forum. Is carried out in collaboration with Ephorate of Cyclades Antiquities and with the support of National Science Research Center “Democritus”his Greek Center and her Europa nostra.

The list of speakers included distinguished scientists, thinkers, researchers, artists, teachers and students from the Cyclades.

Among them are John Schellnhuber, Carlos Moreno, Yiannis Zouganelis, Athina Kousteni, Mark Wigley, Beatriz Colomina, Daniel A. Barber, David Gissen, Dimitris Filippidis, Simon Richards, Nahum Romero, Catherine Gall, Thoma Véronique Chankowski and others.

At the heart of the reflection found the great town planner Constantine Doxiadis and Delos Symposia orchestrated in the 1960s and 1970s. In these inspirational meetings, top -notch intellectuals such as Buckminster Fuller, Margaret Mead and Marshall Mcluhan participated to explore the future of human settlements through the prism of the science of residential science (Ekistics). By expanding the debate from the earth to space, the Alpha Mission – Delos 2025 He called on scientists of our time to envision settlements in which nature, society and technology coexist harmoniously – wherever humanity in the future opens its wings.

In the context of the meeting, the World Human Forum presented a new sculptural installation of the renowned sculptor Praxiteles Janoulin. Focusing on the concepts “In Pan, Wisdom, Life” Carved on marble in 6 languages, it invites the public to an information and meditation area. At the same time, participants were able to send their personal message around these concepts everywhere in the world by posting a card with stamps of the new series Alpha Mission – Delosrecently released by the ELTA.

The two -day end was completed in the ancient theater of the island, with ‘Ancient thoughts and cosmic odes’.
