Tom Cruise, 62, has just won a feat that goes beyond movie screens: the star joined the Guinness World Records by performing the largest number of fire parachute jumps already made by an actor. The feat, recorded 16 times, was performed during mission filming: impossible – the final, eighth, franchise trial. The information is from People magazine.

The scene in question is one of the riskiest and most spectacular of the new chapter of the saga. In it, the character Ethan Hunt, lived by Cruise, launches himself from a 1940s biplane plane on a flight during a sequence of air combat against the villain Gabriel, played by Esai Morales. The action takes place on the Drakensberg mountain range in South Africa.

The climax involves the character jumping from a flame aircraft, with the main parachute burned down in the air. In real life, Cruise repeated this impressive 16 -time maneuver – always with a previously fuel -soaked parachutes before the jump. According to Guinness, he cut the equipment into flames in the air and opened a reserve to complete the fall safely.

“Tom doesn’t just play action heroes,” he is an action hero, “Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness, said in an interview with People magazine. “Much of your success comes from the commitment to authenticity. It constantly redefines what is possible for an actor on the scene.”

The images were captured with the help of a 22.7 kg camera attached to the actor’s body, enabling detailed close -ups of the fall. The direction of the scene was in charge of Christopher Mcquarrie, screenwriter and director of the franchise, who also closely followed the air filming.

For those who follow Cruise’s trajectory, the feat is not surprised. Licensed and adept at the acrobatics themselves, the actor has already made climbing without stuntmen, motorcycle chases by cliffs and even flew hung outside a moving plane in previous films of the series.

Guinness pointed out that no other actor or stuntman came close to completing so many falls “that challenge death” with this degree of risk and repetition. According to the organization, the record is unprecedented and there are no records of similar attempts from other film professionals.
