Virginia Fonseca, 26, opened her heart to talk about the troubled relationship she had with her father, Mario Serrão, who died in 2021 at the age of 72.

In an interview with Podcast standing with Fernanda Gentil, the digital influencer said she was only able to approach her father in the last three years of his life and that, for much of her childhood and adolescence, she felt angry and frustration for not receiving affection or affection.

“My relationship with my father was very bad. He was very angry, mind closed, had a very thick way. I couldn’t show love. I couldn’t accept it, it made me very angry,” Virginia said. “He was 22 when he died. Our relationship started to improve even after I lived alone.”

According to her, Mario had participated in war and carried trauma that directly influenced the way he was related to the family. Virginia said that although her father presented her with what she asked, she was never of loving hugs or words. “What I asked, he gave. But affection and affection, nothing. I said to my mother, ‘I hate my father.’ And she asked, ‘Has he done something to you?'” He recalled.

The communicator pointed out that, unlike the distant stance with her children, Mario always had a peaceful coexistence with his wife, Margareth Serrão. “My mother was talking, he accepted. She always sent home,” he said, smiling.

Over time, Virginia began to better understand her father’s behavior. “Then I realized that he was not affectionate because he didn’t receive it either. The creation was very tough. My mother is very affectionate, so I was inspired by it to be like this with my daughters. I realized that I could not repeat this pattern, I couldn’t be closed as him,” he explained.

The influencer also said that, already adult, he started to take the initiative to show affection in visits to his parents’ house. “I hugged, kissed … he complained, but I didn’t care,” he said. The change, she said, came around 19 years old.

“I’m very grateful to God because he gave me this three -year period for me to enjoy my father. It was only when I was older that I was really able to connect with him,” said Virginia, who today is the mother of two girls, Maria Alice and Maria Flor, fruits of marriage to singer Zé Felipe.
