Marco Nanini says he told his parents about being gay in his teens: ‘I never hid’

Marco Nanini, 77, has spoken more openly about his sexual orientation in recent interviews. He said he never hid who was indoors and that his parents were surprised to learn, still in his youth, that he was gay. “I couldn’t be gay and my parents didn’t know. I felt that I had a responsibility, a respect, I couldn’t deceive them. They were shocked, but deep down I had no problems,” said the actor.

Lineu interpreter for 14 years on Globo’s “The Grand Family” series, Nanini stresses that he never hid his sexuality and only decided to talk publicly about the relationship with Fernando Libonati after moving himself with a case of violence: the aggression to a young man with fluorescent lamps on Paulista Avenue, in São Paulo.

“I was so shocked by what I said: ‘I will have to position myself, I have to say that I didn’t like it and why I didn’t like it,'” said Nanini. “I never hid my sexuality. If people found something, so much,” he said. In an interview with who, he also said that he related to women before understanding his wishes. “When I got older, I tried it and saw that this was my way.”

For the first time, Nanini will participate in the LGBT+ Pride Parade of São Paulo, which will take place this Sunday (22), from 10am, on Paulista Avenue. The theme of the 29th edition, “Aging LGBT: Memory, Resistance and Future” motivated its presence. “I will be on the stop to show that there is no problem being gay. I see myself as a pre-Dinosaur in the fight,” he said.

The actor also talked about his relationship with cultural producer Fernando Libonati. Together since 1989, they live in separate homes. “I never had jealousy. I always thought the most interesting thing is that you can be everything it is, the way it is, no problem,” explained Nanini.
