11 ways to manage your overshopping needs

by

Have you ever really wondered if you really need what you buy? Do you think you need them, but in the end it is an addictive habit? I recently asked myself these questions when I realized I had to choose whether to pay my electricity bill or my credit bill.

Desperately trying to prove that something was wrong, I looked at my card charges and the movement of my accounts and was horrified. What I saw made me realize that most of my purchases were not even basic necessities, not even second-hand ones. It was these “stupid” shopping, the carefree ones, which at that moment seemed very necessary to me and in the end they were not. And then it came to me that, Yes, I also suffer from the disease of our times, consumerism.

If one googles what consumerism is, one will find that it is a social phenomenon, in which man tries to fill the void within himself through the purchase of goods. This anxious attempt to replace happiness with material things often works to the detriment of our health, our social life, our family and, most importantly, our wallets.

How serious are things?

Can we be cured of this psychological disorder? To answer this, we must first see how serious our addiction is. Below is a list of the “symptoms” of consumerism to see if you are “sick”.

Symptom # 1: You buy more than you want. Even if you have a list of necessities, but still you come home with more bags than you expected, by the way.

Symptom # 2: You had a bad day and you decide to do some shopping therapy, so that you feel better. Yes, you will definitely feel it, but it will not last long.

Symptom no3: You shop for refundable items online. It’s a classic sign that you’re suffering from consumerism, because you think that if you do not have money you can return it or not even receive it, and that means you probably do not really need it.

Symptom # 4: You buy things you already have. Busy.

Symptom no5: You overcharge your cards or spend money on your rent or bills. One of the most serious symptoms. Apart from leaving you afro – something dangerous for today – it also leaves you over-indebted.

Symptom no6: You regret your purchases. Yes it is too late.

Symptom # 7: You are hiding your purchases. And of course you do, because deep down you know that you will be robbed.

So if you achieved 7 out of 7, then things are difficult. If not here’s a new product just for you!

Below we give you 10 + 1 tips to deal with your consumer self and prevent the worst.

1. Do not go shopping unless you really need something. Organize your schedule so that you can go out.

specific days for shopping and combining other jobs together. For example, you can go to the supermarket, laundry, grocery store… the same day, so that you do not go off schedule and forget in the mall. 2. Make a list of the things you really need and try to keep it. Put a limit on the extras you will get.

3. Calculate how much money you will need and keep your budget. If you are one of those who scored 7 out of 7, then use a card with a certain amount available.

4. Do market research. If you need something, then do not get carried away in pointless walks in the shops. It is certain that you will succumb to other temptations.

5. Do not go shopping. There are other places to go for a walk or have a coffee with your girlfriend or partner.

6. Do a check on your closet and cupboards. Keep what you want and they do it for you and get rid of what you do not need. Next, make a list of the things you are missing out on and launch your purchases.

7. Try to keep your things or even reuse them. Think that in this way you do good to the environment, but also to your wallet.

8. Avoid the trap of “one plus one” and discounts. They are the most effective Marketing tricks. Do not fall into the trap. Even if it is an opportunity, think that it may not be your opportunity.

9. Replace shopping therapy with new activities. Replace shopping with friends, with fitness, with new hobbies. You will have a better time and they will last forever.

10. Think if you need to move to a smaller house, what you really need with you and what not. It is better to have the necessary and the most useful, despite all these things, that disorient you.
