In an interview with Dax Shepard’s podcast to publicize his new work, “F1: The Movie,” Brad Pitt talked about an embarrassing moment he lived at the beginning of his career.
Before getting prominent roles, the actor faced a common paradox to almost all professions: how to get the first job if everyone requires experience?
“The whole question was: how you get your SAG card [Screen Actors Guild, o sindicato dos artistas de Hollywood]? You can’t get a real job if you don’t have your card, but you can’t get the card unless you’ve been able to work on something. It’s an impasse, “the star explained.
In an attempt to circumvent this impasse, he did something risky: he got a job as an extra and invented a speech in the middle of the scene.
“It’s a restaurant scene. The main characters are Charlie Sheen and DB Sweeney, and several other actors I didn’t know. I’m the waiter. I must bring champagne and serve. They show me how to do. You have to serve,” he recalled.
“Like an idiot, during the scene, I get to the last actress, the camera is running, I serve her and say, ‘Do you want anything else?’ It was cut! At the time, “Brad Pitt reported.
The then extra scolded from the direction assistant, who threatened to cut him out of work if he did it again. The actor admitted that he was ashamed for the rest of the night.
Shortly thereafter, he got his first role in the horror movie “Murder in the College” (1989), this time with speeches – and the long -awaited affiliation with SAG.
