July’s broadcasts on “Where there is Greece” start from Naxos. Today, Tuesday, July 1 at 14.45, Evlabia Revi and George Kourdis are on the largest island of Cyclades. An island with rich history, popular sights, intense cultural movement and a multitude of different activities.

Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades. Its Venetian castle is inhabited continuously by its construction, which was also made with materials from the Temple of Apollo to which the famous Portara was driven. The ride in the country reveals indelible signs of culture and modern gastronomy.

Potato cultivation in Naxos is threatened by water scarcity. In some cases, farmers are resorting to brackish water solution while breeders are now forced to buy feeds instead of cultivating them. The Faneromeni Dam was built for irrigation but is used exclusively for water supply, while the designed Tsikalari Dam was auctioned 16 years ago but the project was never done. But it has been inaugurated 4 times.

Hundreds of track and field athletes are born in the tartan of Naxos Municipal Stadium. Young children live and fight in a spirit of teamwork and are distinguished by the colors of Panaxiakos.
