Greek initiative of cooperation of the Mediterranean countries in Tourism

Initiative for regional cooperation in the field of Tourism between the Mediterranean countries, announced in advance Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikiliasduring his meeting with his Israeli counterpart, Yoel Razvozov in the Tel Aviv.

For his part, Mr. Razvozov stressed that Israel will support Greek initiative.

On the sidelines IMTM International Tourism Exhibition 2022Mr. Kikilias the Minister of Tourism met with executives of the Israeli tourism market, representatives of airlines and tour operators, including the CEO of El Al Avigal Soreq, the CEO of Arkia Israel Airlines Gadi Tepper, the CEO and VP Sales and Marketing of the travel agency Flying Carpet, Eyal Kashdan and Oren Cohen Meguri.

In the meetings of Mr. Kikilias with the top executives of the two largest airlines of Israel, El Al and Arkia, it was agreed to increase the flights to Greek destinations for 2022, while Arkia announced the addition of the flight to Volos in its routes.

At the heart of all the meetings of the Minister of Tourism, actions were found through which the further increase of the tourist flow from Israel is aimed, such as the emergence of areas of historical importance for the Israelis – especially Thessaloniki which can be a destination-hub for the whole Northern Greece, the promotion of the cruise, as well as the extension of the stay of the Israeli visitors in our country, in combination with the promotion of alternative forms of tourism (medical, gastronomic and winter tourism).

During his two-day stay in Israel, the Minister of Tourism gave interviews to 5 Israeli media, in which he called on the Israelis to visit Greece this year not only in the summer, but also during their holiday period for the Jewish New Year (in September-mid October).

Mr. Kikilias also made a number of important contacts with Israeli investors, in which he noted their strong interest in investing in Greece, especially in the tourism sector. As it turned out, Athens remains at the top of investors’ interest, as well as lesser-known destinations in mainland Greece.
