Five Greek books for the summer proposes RES – EIA. The variety of titles and names also shows the diversity of the searches of modern Greek prose.

Fortune has not paved the best path for the cavity to ‘Ribbed», Kastaniotis editions, by Ioanna Karystiani. Set in Krania because of his love for Chionia, he can do well in the Crinzado who has received from the previous ownership, but he will be unhappy with his love. Chionia will leave him for a doctor with whom he is preparing to have a child now. Spwa, of course, has his own child with her, Chronis, who wants to become a teacher, loves his studies, is distinguished for his intelligence and integrity, and is in love with a wonderful physically and mental creature, Clea, with whom they draw in common. And yet, the father will kill his son, not only having premeditated step -by -step all his actions but then taking all condoms in order to never reveal his act. And when it comes to an end, it will not come as a result of human or divine judgment, but as a product of an even more perverted psyche, which will seal anyway, any way, to the truth.

Protagonists in ‘Innocence“, Kedros editions, by Vangelis Raptopoulos are Georgis and Lenos, who make us George and Lenny in the novel” People and Mice “(1937) by John Steinbeck (1902-1968). Raptopoulos recreates Steinbeck, in other words he acclimatizes him in Greek. Instead of the 1930s and for the great economic downturn of 1929 we have modern Athens with its daily economic misery and instead of a ranch in California we watch a warehouse with printed bakery for bookbinding somewhere in the Greek capital. The conditions, however, are no different. Two juvenile young people deal with a job without prospects, but this will not prevent them from dreaming, but even seeing their dreams to turn into pieces in the worst way. Georgis is active, fast and smart, Lenos beastly, agitated and mentally teasing. What makes Raptopoulos and Steinbeck bring them together is their common bad fate (individual and social). Without parents or observed by their relatives, economically oppressed and without the slightest surface, Georgis and Lenos represent two absolutely frightened creatures, which have been despairing in the arms of the other – and let’s look like Georgis and Georgis.

Women in pregnancy and women in menopause. Women who are mothers and daughters but also sisters or grandmothers. Female actors, women of poetry and rationality, female philosophers, but also female abused, often to death. And women, however, who are pediatricians, or women with an androgynous world – and others, again, women who do not believe that their gender belongs to nature, being only a product of social construction. This is the range of female faces in the novel by Amanda Michalopoulou, released under the title “Her long journey through one another»From Patakis Publications. Pulling the line from her novels and novels published in recent years, the author puts next to the issues of woman and sex and issues related to the narrative genre that she plays either with the techniques and structure of the composition adopted. Self -rise, in other words, mythical autobiography, which is increasingly at the forefront of writing preferences in both Greece and international sphere, is also a welcoming gender for Michalopoulou. She is in a hurry to open her writing workshop to reveal the intensive research conducted inside until the process that will lead to the final product is completed.

In the novel “The bitter truth», Kedros editions, by Dimitris Sotakis A cheerful and carefree family travels for two months vacation In a luxurious hotel (the father is a renowned novelist) and is preparing to enjoy his comfort and amenities. Sotakis never names in his books or countries and the names of the heroes are like Greek or in an international echo in order to always submit the idea that the events that live themselves could happen anywhere and anytime. The day -to -day life for Pohi Lentis, for Maria’s wife and their children SA and Fein seems too self -evident and almost trivial: excursions, food, sea toys and various tourist attractions. Slowly, however (the narrative deliberately delayed its rolling over), the people around them start not to recognize them-as their stay at the hotel last year’s stay and the many hours of companionship with the same groups. The strange thing is that the thing is repeated in the boxed novel (what has made him famous), but the opposite time: there the identical protagonists are recognized in the hotel by everyone, even if they do not know anyone. Cleustrophobia is about a permanent feature of Sotakis’ novels, and here it rushes to spread its black wings over the once harmonious couple.

On a Greek island (apparently about Corfu), which receives repeated tourist waves, two families in many years of competition for each other for the allocated control of its territory, will be involved with unpredictable and multiple consequences on the case of two successive murders. In the novel by Vangelis Beka “Genesis“, Psychogios Publications, the police plot that reveals modern social pathogens will be combined with the advanced technology of artificial intelligence, leading to a police and socio -political novel with generous doses of science fiction and future. Bekas shows with joy and originality the ways in which police literature change nowadays, seeking feverishly new directions.

The families of Carras and Stergios will end up in a fateful and definitive conflict that will dramatically dramatically and complex: from the war of conflicting interests and the role of shops and businesses to the corruption of the police and the police officer and the corruption of the police officer, (homosexual and not) that determine the narrative events, the unexpected family cracks, as well as a romantic love that not only runs through the whole novel but also ends (quite curiously) body and harmless.
