“Where there is Greece” returns to the Cyclades and today, Monday, July 14 at 14.45, is in Folegandros. Together with Evlabia Revi and George Kurdis we discover her wild beauty, we tour the cobblestone of the country, climb the rock of Our Lady, swim in her beaches, taste local delicacies and know beautiful people.

The wild and rocky landscape of Folegandros in combination with the blue waters of the Aegean make up a magnificent setting and an experience of Cycladic beauty that remains unforgettable even for foreign visitors who visit it again and again. Like a group of Italians, who have been spending their holidays on the island for the last twenty years. They accompany us to our maritime tour of its northwest coasts. Our ride ends at the Virgin Mary, the Temple built on the top of the country for more than a century.

The island is a destination not only for honeymoon but also for wedding ceremonies. We witnessed an American marriage and recorded the whole process before, during and after the ceremony.

We met one of the last shepherds of Folegandros, Zacharias Marinakis, who tells us his life, the difficulties of his profession, and the reasons that constantly shrink.

We also met some of the island’s high school students, who created augmented reality maps and taught how to use artificial intelligence to record the paths of the island.

One of the problems that hurt the locals is the port in Karavostasis. Despite the increase in tourism it remains small. Studies to improve it start in the 1990s, but they go into drawers and programs. Ships often find it difficult to reach and the fishermen make improvised platforms to tie their boats.
