At the head of Season 11 of Bake Off Brasil (SBT), Nadja Haddad, 44, already has plans for his next full -time project after reality: experience further motherhood. Joseph’s mother, one year old, the presenter spoke in an interview with F5 who wants to enjoy every second of his son’s growth, as his first year of life was not easy.
Extreme premature, José spent six months in the ICU, had several surgeries and still deals with some consequences of prematurity. He was Antonio’s twin, who died with two weeks of age. “I lived a constant desert. They were tall and downs. One day I received good news in the morning and, in the afternoon, it was not that good,” says Nadja.
The twins were born in the 24th week of gestation, that is, in the sixth month. In the long process of hospitalization in the Neonatal ICU, Joseph weighed only 380 grams. “Today, seeing my son developing, beautiful, healthy, I still feel that I am living a dream,” she says.
Married to Danilo Joan (PSD-SP), mayor of Cajamar, in the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo, Nadja had FIV and even had a miscarriage before becoming pregnant with the twins. When the dreamed pregnancy took revenge, it was not as she expected.
Prematurity extreme
In March last year, the presenter was hospitalized at risk of losing babies. It was 39 days bedridden until the twins came to the world on April 28. It was only in November that she returned home with Joseph on her lap.
“I dreamed a lot to get pregnant, tried for a long time, and when I was at the best time of pregnancy, I could do everything, I was hospitalized and had to stop my life,” he says. “This was the first shock. The extreme premature birth was the second shock, and then came the worst moment: the loss of one of the babies,” he recalls.
Nadja explains that the challenges of extreme prematurity do not end with the hospital discharge. “We only win until the baby reaches the age corrected according to the chronological,” he says.
Today, the presenter is part of a community with other mothers she met in the Neonatal ICU. They meet often and celebrate together the birthdays and every victory of the children.
Pain and healing
After all that has been, Nadja intends to use his voice to bring information and welcome to other families. “Prematurity and maternal mourning are poorly spoken issues. There is still something obscure, people avoid. But it has to be spoken. If you supply information relieves and helps us go through situations.”
Christian, she has given lectures at religious events to talk about the topic. “For me, it’s not a problem [falar sobre o assunto]. Where do you have the opportunity to talk, I’ll talk. I often say that my pain will cure other people’s pain. The more I verbalize, the more I will heal, “he says.
“I was a mother after 40 and was a mother who did not live all the dreams of a pregnancy. In fact, no dreams. It was all extremely frustrated, I lost a son, the other was fighting for life and very bad,” he laments.
“But although there is a huge vacuum on my chest, there is also a grandeur of gratitude to see my other baby developing. I have nothing to complain about, just thank you. After what I passed, what’s not to shake me. I’m transformed, much lighter, taking things with sense of humor,” he says.
