In Donation of 500,000 euros All Greek banks, members of the Hellenic Bank Association, proceeded for the anti -seismic shielding and restoration of the historic building of the Lyceum Painting in Constantinople, at the request of the Committee on the Grand Crucifixion Community of the Cross Trade and the Administration.
This initiative is yet another corporate social responsibility action of Greek banks and aims to support the Greek community and Greek education abroad, with particular emphasis on the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of Hellenism of the city.
The Painter High School was founded in 1893 by donating by the National Benefactor Christos Zografos and is one of the most important educational institutions of Ecumenical Hellenism, with a steady presence in the city for more than 130 years. The school building, due to its age and seismic activity in the area, needs important technical interventions to shield the safety of students, teachers and visitors. 74 students attend school today.
The Chairman of the Commission of the Holy Cross Community, Mr. George Papaliaris, said:
“The Stavrridi Community is watching with great emotion and pride the progress of the restoration and anti -seismic shielding work of the High School Painting, a historical and iconic school in our community. It is a project of multiple importance – educational, cultural and symbolic – that upgrades not only the school infrastructure but also the hope of the Greek Orthodox community for a future with continuity and quality.
On behalf of the Commission of the Grand Cross Trade Community, I express our warm thanks to the Hellenic Bank Association and its Member Banks for their generous sponsorship. Thanks to this valuable support, it is possible to proceed a project absolutely necessary and essential, both for the safety of the building and for the maintenance of the painting of the painting as a lighthouse of Greek education in Constantinople.
Pain is a symbol of the education, history and soul of Rome. Supporting this project is supporting our identity, our presence, in our dignity. I hope this initiative would inspire others, bodies and persons, so that we can continue with collectivity, transparency and consistency the great mission of our education to the city. “
The President of the Hellenic Bank Association, Mr. Gikas Chardouvelis, said:
“All the Greek banks – member of the Hellenic Bank Association with a full awareness of their social responsibility and respect for the historical and cultural heritage of Hellenism of the Diaspora, support the Istanbul High School Painting with a donation of 500,000 euros. Zografio is a flagship educational institution with a long history and uninterrupted offering to the community. It is a living symbol of education and culture. Its anti -seismic reinforcement and repair of its damage is not only technically necessary. For the Greek banking system, it is an act of historical responsibility and respect for our roots. It is the honor of the Greek banks to contribute to the preservation of the Painting and the continuation of its mission and for future generations. “
The Hellenic Banks Association and its member banks continue to support actions that promote education, culture and social cohesion, both in Greece and wider in Hellenism.
