Darth Weider’s iconic light of the original Star Wars trilogy, is due to be auctioned for the first time, with an estimated value of up to 2.2 million English pounds.

The Palpithmos was presented in the 1980s Star Wars “The Empire Strikes Back” (“The Empire”) and “Return of the Jedi” (“The Return of the Jeddi”) and will be sold at auction by Propstore in September, in Los Angeles.

The weapon was used by Dartera Weider, played by David Praise during the top duels against Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamil) in the last acts of both films.

It was also used by a fencing Olympic Olympian, Bob Anderson.

The auction coincides with the 45th anniversary of the movie “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” and the price of the light is estimated between 746,000 and 2,241,000 English.

According to the auction house, genuine lights from the original trilogy are rare and this “is believed to be the only one of the first Star Wars films with verifiable use on the screen ever made in public auction”.

Brandon Alaineer, Managing Director of Propstore, said: “George Lucas imagined the light, or the laser sword as originally called, as the perfect defensive weapon for a more advanced time. Nearly 50 years after the first Star Wars film, light -through is a world -renowned symbol of the world’s most beloved cinematic franchise and are firmly classified as the most iconic and memorable objects of all time. “

Prior to the auction in September, the Photpathos will be presented in London, Beverly Hills and New York throughout August.
