Fábio Assunção, 53, revealed for the first time at Fantástico, an episode of harassment he suffered when he was only eight, by a neighbor. The actor made the report during participation in the board “May Ask”, a conversation with 30 young people in the autistic spectrum.
According to him, the case occurred in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. The neighbor called him to enter the apartment, showed magazines and put his hand on him.
“He took it and put his hand and I ran out,” he said. “I never talked about it because I don’t think I can compare the harassment a man has to the harassment that a woman has.”
The actor also talked about mental health and said that early career success made him travel a lot and live alone.
“There was a time when I collapsed,” he said.
At the time, Asuncion left the soap opera “Business of China” to take care of health and “put life in order”. According to him, it was the hardest moment of the career.
Another delicate point addressed in the conversation was the distance of the three children – John, 22, Ella Felipa, 13, and Alana Ayo, 4. He said he spends periods of 15 or 20 days with his children and then needs to stay away for a few months to work.
The artist believes, however, that his children admire his work and stated to be happy with the profession.
In answering the question of one of the young women, who underwent hospitalizations in psychiatric clinics, the actor talked about his own experience and revealed that he felt shame. Asuncion has already been hospitalized to recover from chemical dependence.
“I also had my hospitalizations. And that usually makes us feel ashamed. Only, think well, who is in the world that does not have their pain, their difficulties?” He asked.
