Born in Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Santoro turns 50 this Friday (22). Today one of the most acclaimed names in the Brazilian art scene, the actor has made a solid path from his first television appearances until he became a known face in Hollywood.

His trajectory includes a phase before the fame where he narrowly not became a journalist. However, he decided to tread the path of dramaturgy, where he already stood out in workshops. His first prominent works were in the soap operas “Eye to Eye” and “Explode Heart” in the early 1990s.

The meteoric rise of Santoro in Brazil led him to star in memorable roles in films such as “Seven Heads Bicho” and “April Shattered”, both in 2001, who consolidated his reputation as a versatile and talented actor.

His debut in Hollywood took place with a participation in “As Panthers detonating” (2003), but it was his role as Xerxes in “300” (2006) that catapulted him to the global star. After dating with famous like Luana Piovani, Ellen Jabour and a quick affair with the top model Gisele Bündchen, married also actress Mel Fronckowiak, with whom she has two daughters.
