The band was planning to tour South America and was scheduled to perform at a festival in Colombia last Friday when Hawkins complained of chest pains. The drummer died shortly afterwards.

Although no official cause of death has been announced, local medical authorities have identified several substances in his body that may have caused the heart to swell.

For 2022 the Foo Fighters had planned a tour in North America and Europe. They were also scheduled to appear at the Grammy Awards, but were canceled due to Hawkins’s death.

Taylor Hawkins joined the band in 1997 after being Alanis Morissette drummer for two years.
