Snoop Dogg, 52, once again generated debate on social networks after commenting on his experience watching the movie “Lightyear” (2022), an animation derived from Toy Story. In an interview with Podcast It’s Giving, the rapper said he did not feel comfortable taking his grandchildren to the cinema because of the presence of a scene that portrays a lesbian couple.
According to him, the situation became uncomfortable when one of the grandchildren asked how two women could have had a son together. “My grandson, in the middle of the movie, said, ‘Papa Snoop, how did she have a child with a woman? She is a woman,'” he said. The artist said he did not know what to answer the child at that time.
In the plot, the character Alisha Hawthorne, colleague of Buzz Lightyear, lives a relationship with Kiko, with whom he forms a family. The scene even generated controversy at the time of launch, being the target of debates in different countries.
Snoop said that since then he has been afraid of attending children’s sessions. “I’m afraid to go to the movies now. It’s as if you put me in the middle of a situation I have no answer,” he said.
The rapper also criticized the presence of LGBTQ+ representativeness in films aimed at children. For him, “these scenes generate questions that adults are not always prepared to answer.”
