Tony Actor Billy Porter recovers, after a serious health adventure as he was diagnosed with septicemia. This sudden evolution forces producers to throw premature curtain on the successful production of the musical “cabaret” in Broadway, in which Porter had the lead role.

The official announcement was made on Sunday by the producers of the show, who confirmed that Porter was in the process of recovering.

“His doctors are sure he will fully recover, but he was advised to pursue a calm program in the next two weeks,” they said.

Last July, Porter and two -time candidate for Olivier Marisha Wallace took over the lead roles of Emcee and Sally Bowles respectively, succeeding Orville Peck and Eva Nobalia.

This is the same production of the musical that has been successful in London and swept the Olivier Awards in 2022, with Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley in the lead roles. It is worth noting that both Porter and Wallace had previously starred in West Ed.

Despite the great recognition he received, a reduction in ticket sales was recorded.
