The Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone will come to Athena for the official premiere of the new film by George Lanthimos, entitled “Blow”which will take place on May 6 at the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the National Opera. The film is the second assignment of the program of ELS and the Organization of Culture and Development NEON, “The Artist on the Composer”.
The award-winning Greek filmmaker, George Lanthimos accepting his proposal Artistic Director of ELS George Koumentakis and her Director of NEON Elina Kountourissigned the production, screenplay and direction of the film “Blow”which was filmed in February 2020 in Tinos, starring Emma Stone and the distinguished French actress Damian Bonnar.
The new long-awaited film by George Lanthimos will be displayedaccompaniment of ensembles, on 6, 7 and 8 May 2022. Before the premiere, on May 5, There will be a press conference with George Lanthimos and Emma Stone at ELS.
The program «The Artist on the Composer» connects pioneering contemporary artists and directors and / or filmmakers with live orchestral music performance. Through works that are the fruit of new assignments, each artist converses with works by classical composers, free from the usual operatic conventions and narrative, opening up to an audience that may not have previously dealt with opera.
After the installation of Nikos Navridis in 2019, the great Greek director with international recognition George Lanthimos takes the baton of the second assignment of “The Artist on the Composer” and creates a new film, which will always be accompanied by ensembles. The soundtrack of the film consists of works by GS Bach / Knut Nysted and Tosio Hosokawa, which will be performed live in the Stavros Niarchos Hall by the soloists Angelina Tkacheva (harpsichord), Wu Wei (sheng), the “Maria Callas” quartet and the ERT Choir.
The production, on the part of the National Opera, is implemented with the support of the donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (ISN) to strengthen its artistic extroversion.
