On Sunday, October 12th, Happy Traveler travels to the favorite island of Argosaronikos, Aegina.
Eftichis Bletsas and Electra Asteris board the ship from Piraeus and reach the island.
They start from the Marathon with its popular beach, Aeginissa, but also Perdika, the traditional fishing village. From there they enter the boat to go to the islet of the monastery with the turquoise waters and deer. The program is stopped at the Aegina Maris abandoned hotel with the popular beach. They then pass through Saint Sozonta, Sarpa Beach, Climate and Agios Georgios. Next stop is the village of Sfentouri and hiking to the Drakospita, the stone buildings reminiscent of ancient constructions.
On the north coast of Aegina, the Happy Traveler team will visit Souvala, a spa town known for its thermal springs. They continue to the west passing the home of Nikos Kazantzakis, where the great Greek writer lived for several years and inspired important works. At the closure of the day, they stop at Akrotiri Plakakia, known for its impressive sunset.
The next day, the monastery of Agios Nektarios, one of the largest Orthodox monasteries in Greece, has a series. From there they continue in Paleochora, the Byzantine settlement known as the “Mystras of the Argosaronic”. They also visit Agia Marina, a seaside village with a large sandy beach and from there they also make a boat to explore the northwestern edge of the island. They then lead to Vlychada beach and the picturesque harbor on the doors on the lush east side of Aegina.
In this episode, Happy Traveler will step on the highest point of Aegina, at the top of the Hellenic Mountains, where the chapel of Ascension is located. Finally, descending from the top he meets the Temple of Hellenic Zeus on which the Byzantine Temple of the Taxiarches has been built.
