The priceless gold locket is presented in a video by the British actor (also known from the film Brides of Pantelis Voulgaris) Damian Lewis, who played the British monarch in the television adaptation of the books “Wolf Hall”.

The Heart of Tudor is one of the most impressive artefacts in English history. It has been detected in December 2019 in Warwickshire, with the locket and heart-shaped necklace associated with Henry VIII and his first wife and queen, Catherine of Aragon.

Few artifacts remain from this period that tell the story of Henry’s relationship with Catherine during their 24-year marriage, making it a historical treasure.

Research by the British Museum suggests that the locket may have been created for a tournament held in October 1518 to mark the betrothal of their daughter, Princess Mary, to the heir to the French throne.

Henry often commissioned London goldsmiths to create jewels for formal garments for important festivals and state functions, which were briefly worn by members of the court to create the impression of great splendor.

To acquire the locket, the British Museum is seeking to collect £3.5m (€4m) by April 2026while it has already received a donation of 500,000 pounds (about 600,000 euros) from The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust. In this context, he appeals to the public to contribute financially.
