Anthony Hopkins’ wife he thinks he might have autism, but he says he doesn’t care about “labels.” In an interview with the newspaper “The Sunday Times”the 87-year-old Oscar-winning actor opened up about everything—from his family history to his mental health—and revealed that his wife, Stella Arroyavehad once told him he might have a neurodevelopmental disorder.

“I’m obsessed with numbers. I’m obsessed with details. I like to have everything organized and to memorize”Hopkins said in midfield. “Stella looked it up and said, ‘You must have Asperger’s syndrome.’ I didn’t know what the hell he meant”Hopkins said of his wife’s unofficial diagnosis. “I don’t even believe it.”

Asperger’s syndrome is included in autism spectrum disorders and is one of the most complex neurodevelopmental disorders. Awareness of the syndrome is high and awareness of the disorder is increasing.

At another point in his interview, the actor specifically mentioned: “Well, I guess I’m cynical, because this is all nonsense. It’s all nonsense. ADHD, OCD, Asperger syndrome, blah, blah, blah. God, this is life and being human: full of mysteries, confusing thoughts and things that lie within us. All these “labels”… I mean, who cares? But now it’s fashionable”Hopkins explained.
