“The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the inadvertent release from custody of defendant James Howard Jackson,” the department said in a statement.

“Defendant Jackson appeared for court proceedings at the Clara Shortridge Criminal Justice Center on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, and was released from custody on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, due to an administrative error. The investigation continues. and the LASD Serious Crimes Department is actively working to get Mr. Jackson back into custody.”

After learning of the suspect’s release, dog walker Ryan Fischer posted a note on his Instagram this Friday (8) in which he says: “While I am deeply concerned by the events leading up to his release, I am confident that the law enforcement will correct the wrong. I ask that Mr. Jackson turn himself in to the authorities so that the resolution of the crime committed against me will run its course, whatever the outcome the courts determine. Thank you to everyone who has supported me during this time course.”

The department also asked anyone with information about Jackson’s whereabouts to contact authorities.

Jackson had been in custody for nearly a year on bail of more than $3 million. He was arrested along with four other suspects last year after dog walker Fischer was shot in the chest for resisting two men trying to take Gaga’s dogs in February 2021.
